OptiFine Mod 1.6.2 really is useful and awesome. OptiFine Mod 1.6.2 introduces you a wide variety of features. Some that simply make gameplay easier, some that make it more fun, or just for pure enjoyment. Others work hard to insure that you have no-lag when playing and settings can be set to change what your world looks like, smarter block generation. Turning weather completely off, to insure your never bugged with rain or snow. The mod also adds a texturepacks menu selection in your settings so you can change your current texturepack without having to log out, or exit the world you’re using at the time.
Distance fog is removed completely from your view. Allowing you to see further without having vision blocked by the grey cloud. Also, view distance can now be extended past “far view” and decreased lower than “tiny distance”. This allows greater and worse computers to see farther, or see less. Helping players to improve gameplay. Whether it be an FPS problem, or simply needing to see further in your world. Well, the coolest options by far is OptiFine clear water setting. This will allow you to see underwater for miles which is especially useful on some of the maps mods that feature really deep water.

OptiFine Mod 1.6.2 Installation Guide
For Minecraft 1.6.2 and Newer
Easy
- Download OPTIFINE MOD
- Start Magic Launcher
- Click “Setup”
- Select Environment “1.6.2″
- Click “Add” -> select the OptiFine ZIP file
- Click “OK”
- Login and play
Not so easy
- Download OPTIFINE MOD 1.6.2
- Go to the minecraft base folder (the official launchers shows it when you click “Edit Profile” as “Game Directory”)
- Go in subfolder “Versions”
- Rename the folder “1.6.2″ to “1.6.2_OptiFine”
- Go in the subfolder “1.6.2_OptiFine”
- Rename “1.6.2.jar” to “1.6.2_OptiFine.jar”
- Rename “1.6.2.json” to “1.6.2_OptiFine.json”
- Open the file “1.6.2_OptiFine.json” with a text editor and replace “id”:”1.6.2″ with “id”:”1.6.2_OptiFine” and save the file
- Copy the files from the OptiFine ZIP file in “1.6.2_OptiFine.jar” as usual (you can use the 1.5.2 instructions for this) and remove the META-INF folder from “1.6.2_OptiFine.jar”.
- Start the official launcher
- Click “Edit Profile”
- Select “Use version:” -> “release 1.6.2_OptiFine”
- Click “Save Profile”
- Click “Play” or “Login” to start the game. If only “Play Offline” is available, then log out and log in again to fix it.
For Minecraft 1.5.2
- Download OPTIFINE MOD
- Locate your minecraft.jar file. On Windows, it’s in %APPDATA%/.minecraft/bin
- Create a backup of minecraft.jar
- Open minecraft.jar in an archive editor (WinRar/7-Zip/etc)
- Delete the META-INF folder.
- Copy the .class files from the downloaded zip file into the jar file, replacing previous files.
- Done!
